"Everybody's Gone to the Rapture," a haunting and scary game, is due for release sometime in summer 2015 exclusively on the PS4.

A song and trailer for the game recently came out. The trailer allowed gamers to get a better understanding of the premise of the game while the song titled "The Mourning Tree" showcased some of the haunting nature of the game.

As the title indicates, the game deals with the aftermath of the "rapture." It is set in 1984 with the proceedings centered on a small town in the English countryside. Players get to experience both the beauty and loneliness of the location.

There are six characters in the game and players get to step into each of their shoes. Each character in the game will be linked to the others in some form.

The game is being developed by The Chinese Room which previously brought out games like "Dear Esther."

Its creative director Dan Pinchbeck said the studio wanted the player to identify with each of the characters and to remember experiences the characters had in the past while they play another character a few hours down the line.

As for the game itself, the player will have to decipher clues as to what happened during the rapture. They will be aided in their quest by lights or imprints of people who were caught up in the rapture.

Once these lights are accessed successfully in the game, the player will learn memories about the person and understand what happened.

GameSpot said while some of these lights need to be found to complete the game, others are optional but may provide valuable insight and broader understanding of the quest.

The game is set in a beautiful 3D countryside but is "quietly scary" because it does not provide any human interaction. Players will only be able to walk through it while they encounter bright lights which when unlocked emit screeching noises and memories.
