The Clark kids have really grown into their own and are ready to prove their worth in a post-apocalyptic world. But while model student Alison (Alycia Debnam-Carey) would fight for her life to be with her mom, former junkie Nick (Frank Dillane) seemed to have already acclimated to a life away from home.

"Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 episode 11 titled, "Pablo and Jessica," wasn't entirely about the titular characters. In fact, Pablo and Jessica weren't even shown and were instead barely mentioned in two of its most revealing, albeit heartbreaking scenes.

But firstly, leading up to those scenes were Nick and Alicia taking on the new world's challenges with their resourceful and self-reliant thinking.

Hoping to make up for his faux pas from his previous run, Nick put his junkie know-how to work by stretching La Colonia's Oxycontin supply with a classic cutting technique. And while Alejandro (Paul Calderon) initially worried about getting found out by the dealers at the Pelicano big-box supermarket, with whom they traded the pills for water, Nick quickly put his doubts to rest by skillfully showing him how to crush the pills, mix it with a little powdered milk, and then pound out new pills that looked no different from the original ones.

"You're a pharmacist, I'm a junkie — trust me," Nick told Alejandro, who would later on give Nick his own trailer home as compensation.

Meanwhile, at the Rosarito Beach Hotel, Alicia figured out a faster way to rid the hotel of its zombified guests by luring them out through the pier then off the edge so that the riptides can sweep them away. They had help from some of the survivors from the Diaz-Stowe wedding with whom Madison (Kim Dickens) and Victor (Colman Domingo) made peace with earlier.

But not everything turned out right for everybody, especially not for Pablo, Jessica and the people who cared the most for them.

Pablo turned out to be Luciana's (Danay Garcia) brother, who went out to look for their mother and had not returned since. It was him that Luciana was looking for when she spotted a severely dehydrated Nick with a mob of zombies before eventually collapsing on the road.

Although Pablo had been found, as reported by one of La Colonia's men, he had been found "in pieces." Luciana hardly mourned over this, and even went out with Nick on an errand to the Pelicano after hearing the news. This did, however, give cause for Luciana to open up a little to Nick, which subsequently culminated in their first intimate kiss.

Jessica (Schuyler Fisk) was the bride at the Rosarito Hotel wedding who was apparently locked up in the honeymoon suite by her husband, Oscar (Andres Londono). The groom could not yet let go of his now zombified bride, and had been holding fort outside her room. Victor came to talk to him and after finding a kindred spirit in a man who had also lost his beloved, Oscar finally relented and let a teary-eyed Victor into the room to take care of his wife.

According to Yahoo!, the Rosarito Beach Hotel was a safe haven akin to "The Walking Dead's" West Georgia Correctional Facility. It is spacious, self-contained and offered enough space for cultivating crops. It is also well stocked with food and water, and a vantage point that allowed its inhabitants to spot threats from miles away. However, it had one advantage over the prison: Rosarito also came with a majestic ocean view.

The next episode of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 titled, "Pillars of Salt" will finally reveal what has happened to Ofelia (Mercedes Mason), as shown by this sneak peak released by AMC. Apparently, Victor was right. Ofelia has indeed lit out with their truck and will now be forced to scavenge and fend for her own life.

"Fear the Walking Dead" airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
