'Fear the Walking Dead' season 3 air date, news: Companion web series 'Passage' debuts
Following the critical success of the Emmy-nominated "Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462," AMC debuted a new companion web series for "Fear the Walking Dead."
AMC rolled out the first installment of "Fear the Walking Dead: Passage," its new 16-part miniseries, on Sunday, Oct. 23, during a commercial break within the premiere episode of "The Walking Dead" season 7. It is currently live on the AMC website.
The new season of the "Fear the Walking Dead" webisodes centers around Sierra (Kelsey Scott), a fearsome survivor who agrees to assist the Gabi (Mishel Prada) in return for a sanctuary in the post-zombie apocalypse world. According to the official description for "Passage," over the course of their journey, the two are forced to deal with multiple dangers and must learn how to survive.
"Fear the Walking Dead: Passage" is produced by "Fear the Walking Dead" executive producer and showrunner Dave Erickson. It is directed by Andrew Bernstein, who also serves as a producer, and is penned by Lauren Signorino and Michael Zunic, who are also consulting producers.
"Flight 462," which was helmed by Michael McDonough, earned two Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.
"We saw a tremendous response to last year's 'Flight 462' so we are excited to again be expanding the world of 'Fear' with another story of survival at the onset of the apocalypse," Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV, said in a statement.
"It's great to be working with Dave Erickson and the 'Fear' team on this new piece of original short- form content that will continue to engage fans in the series' off-season," he added.
Each episode of "Fear the Walking Dead: Passage" will run for less than a minute and will debut every Sunday night, both online and on-air as promos during every new episode of "The Walking Dead" season 7.
"Fear the Walking Dead" season 3 returns sometime in 2017 on AMC.
