Felicity Jones New Movies 2015: Joins 'Inferno' Cast as Tom Hanks Reprises Role as Robert Langdon for Dan Brown Novel Adaptation

Felicity Jones is set to join Tom Hanks as the latter reprises the role of symbologist Robert Langdon in the film adaptation of Dan Brown's mystery novel "Inferno," the third installment of the Langdon film franchise following "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons."

Jones, nominated for her role as Stephen Hawking's love interest, Jane Wilde, in "The Theory of Everything," will be playing the lead character Dr. Sienna Brooks alongside Hanks, Den of Geek! reported on Wednesday.

Dr. Brooks will help Langdon recover his memories and stop a plague from being released into the world.

Irrfan Khan, who worked on "Life Of Pi," "Slumdog Millionnaire," "The Amazing Spider-Man," and "Jurassic World," will play Harry Sims/The Provost. Omar Sy of "The Intouchables," "X-Men: First Class," and "Jurassic World," will be playing Christoph Bruder, and Sidse Babett Knudsen of Danish television series "Borgen" is Dr Elizabeth Sinskey.

Hanks will play the character of Langdon for the third time, after the big screen adaptations of "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons." In the movie, Langdon wakes up in a hospital in Italy with amnesia. He eventually teams up with Jones' character, who he hopes will help him get his memories back and keep a madman from launching a global plague linked to Dante's Inferno.

Director Ron Howard has also been confirmed to return on board. The film, together with the two previous films, will mark the only live-action trilogy in both Hanks' and Howards' portfolios.

David Koepp penned the screenplay for the third Dan Brown franchise movie.

The studio behind the film has been reported to be in talks with "several other internationally-recognized actors for major roles."

Principal photography of the film will start at the end of April in Italy, according to The Global Dispatch.

"Inferno" is set for release in cinemas on Oct.14, 2016, from its previous release date of Dec. 18, 2015.

The last film installment based on Brown's first book, "Angels & Demons," grossed $486 million worldwide. Curiously, the third in the book series, "The Lost Symbol," got skipped in the movie adaptation after the filmmakers deemed that such a story never "got legs" for a movie adaptation.
