Square Enix is introducing a new job class on the "Final Fantasy 14" Stormblood expansion later this year.

On Saturday, the company announced that the Samurai job class will be made available for players in early summer. Reports say that in this expansion, samurai will start at level 50 and will no longer have a starting class requirement. Other added features coming to the RPG include new locations, such as the port city of Kugane, Yanxia, Azim Steppe, and Doma. Also joining the game is a race of skilled traders called the Kojin, who reside by the Ruby Sea.

Unfortunately, the game's support for PlayStation 3 ends with this expansion. Since "Final Fantasy 14" support for PS3 will be discontinued, PS4 players will notice an increase in their inventory capacity, as well as the level cap rising to 70.

The second job class was revealed at the "Final Fantasy 14" FanFest in Frankfurt. During the event, Square Enix also discussed the possibility of a Nintendo Switch version of the game. Producer Naoki Yoshida said the company plans to bring "Final Fantasy 14" to as many systems as they could. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that it will be heading to the Switch anytime soon.

The Sixth Axis noted that the company doesn't want to develop a "boxed off version" of the game that limits interaction among players. If changes are made, Square Enix would be more than willing to discuss a Switch port in the future.

As for the next PS4 patch, Yoshida revealed that the game will make use of the console's hardware to improve performance instead of just using it for high-quality display. "Rather than using the PS4 Pro's power to adapt to say 4k display, we're thinking of using it for game performance," he said. "We've begun work on a Pro patch and hope to have details soon," he added.
