The gaming community was hyped when Square Enix revealed its plans to do a remake of one of its most classic video games. "Final Fantasy 7" made its mark when it was released several years ago, and even if the gaming technology has moved forward since then, the fans consider this game as one of the franchise's most memorable installment.

So far, Square Enix has not officially greenlit the production of the "Final Fantasy 7" remake, although the Japanese game studio has openly talked about the project earlier this year. Nevertheless, the game enthusiasts were hoping that the company would reveal more details regarding this project at the Tokyo Game Show 2016 earlier this month. Unfortunately, the fans were only met with disappointment as Square Enix did not even mention the "Final Fantasy 7" remake during their presentation.

According to Yibada, Square Enix may have skipped the announcement of the "Final Fantasy 7" remake since it is still not expected to appear in the near future. Those game titles that will arrive in the coming months were showcased during Square Enix's presentation, namely "Final Fantasy XV" and "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue." The online publication speculates that the announcement for the "Final Fantasy 7" remake will come in a bit later, possibly in the first part of 2017.

The planned remake is said to follow an episodic style of release. A total of three episodes is expected to come out of the "Final Fantasy 7" remake, with the first part slated to have a 2018 release. The second and last episodes of the game are expected to arrive in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

Parent Herald also reported that Square Enix may also be feeling the pressure coming from the "Final Fantasy" gamers who already want to see the much-awaited video game remake. Before the first episode of the remake arrives, the official announcement may be scheduled in 2017, coinciding with the other hyped game title from Square Enix, "Kingdom Hearts 3." There is also a possibility that the "Final Fantasy 7" remake will grace next year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
