Square Enix recently announced plans to release free updates for the much-hyped role-playing video game "Final Fantasy XV."

According to reports, "Final Fantasy XV" director Hajime Tabata has already started revealing plans for the game's future, including its free update that would focus on gameplay improvements as well as new content. Tabata wrote in two separate blog posts detailing the game's post-release updates which are scheduled to be launched throughout the next year.

In addition, there are plans to make a New Game Plus mode that allows players to bring stats over to new playthroughs, along with options for various types of playstyles. Also being developed for future updates are new bosses, customizable avatars, limited time-hunts, and exclusive achievements. In the "long term," the company is said to be planning to make "certain key characters" aside from the main four playable.

"We're hoping to delve deeper into the story, adding scenes that will give you new insight into character motivations, such as why Ravus walked the path he did," Tabata said. He added that the developers will need "a little time" with the said improvements because they have to be localized and voiced in various foreign languages. The director also promised fans that Square Enix will "let you know the details once everything is set."

While most planned updates are free for all players, Gamespot reports that Square Enix will also offer paid DLCs soon. As announced, the working names for the expansion packs are FFXV Holiday Pack, FFXV Booster Pack, FFXV Episode Gladiolus, FFXV Episode Ignis, FFXV Episode Prompto, and FFXV Expansion Pack: Comrades.

Developed and published by Square Enix, "Final Fantasy XV" was released Nov. 29 of this year and has already received mostly positive reviews from critics and fans of the franchise. After spending a whopping 10 years in development, the game is now available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
