'Final Fantasy XV' release date, news: unauthorized distribution ahead official release sparks gameplay spoilers
An unauthorized distribution of "Final Fantasy XV" has been reported in some parts of the world and it caused to spoil some of the gameplay contents for players in other regions of the world. Game director Hajime Tabata confirmed the report and addressed the issue.
According to Kotaku, some gamers from Peru, Saudi Arabia and parts of Europe have reportedly acquired copies of the game ahead of the Nov. 29 official release.
In a press release posted through "Final Fantasy XV's" official Twitter page, Tabata said, "Unfortunately, there has been an unauthorised distribution of the boxed edition of Final Fantasy XV in select regions and we have noticed that gameplay footage from people playing these copies has appeared online."
Tabata adds that these types of incidents are "completely unavoidable" but they remain disappointed that it happened.
The same Kotaku report notes that what could be most disappointing — especially for those who have been waiting for a decade — is seeing parts of the game's ending via online sites that will spoil the entire story of the game.
Tabata also mentioned in his statement, "One of the major goals of Final Fantasy XV is for everyone to enjoy the story and to discover the surprises together through the simultaneous worldwide release."
The game director then promised, "We will also do everything in our capacity to prevent unauthorised footage from appearing online." He added, "We would also like to ask anybody that has obtained an early copy of the game to be respectful to those that are looking forward to the official release and to not spoil the surprises for everyone."
On the other hand, Square Enix has also released details on what to expect from "Final Fantasy XV's" "Crown Update" to be released on the game's first day out in PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The "Crown Update" will add to the game new event scenes from trailers "Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV" and "Omen" that will help newcomers to easily understand the full story of the franchise.
