'Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location' news & update 2016: Is Michael the Purple Guy or is he Springtrap?
While players are busy fending off Circus Baby's gang in the "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" Custom Night mode that just became available earlier this month, creator Scott Cawthon was also busy releasing an update for the game. And when he announced that the Golden Freddy update was finally live, he also revealed something interesting — the cutscenes on Custom Night are actually canon.
Okay, Cawthon previously said that the events that take place on Custom Night were non-canon, but apparently, the cutscenes were canon after all. That's quite a revelation because the Custom Night cutscenes reveal that Michael Afton slowly transforms into recurring antagonist Purple Guy as the robotic parts inside him slowly decays.
When players beat the Golden Freddy on the very hard difficulty level, the final cutscene would confirm that Michael was not the same person as William Afton. Michael was actually William's son. Well, there goes all the theories. In the cutscene, Michael talks about finding his father off-screen. Here's the dialogue:
"Father. It's me, Michael. I did it. I found it. It was right where you said it would be. They were all there. They didn't recognize at first but then they thought I was you. And I found her. I put her back together, just like you asked me to. She's free now. But something is wrong with me. I should be dead. But I'm not. I've been living in shadows. There is only one thing left for me to do now. I'm going to come find you. I'm going to come find you."
It appears Michael is saying that he has found his sister and has put her back together before setting her free. It also confirms that he is transforming into something diabolical. Before the cutscene ends, Springtrap appears onscreen and now fans were left wondering if Michael has turned into Springtrap. So, is Michael the Purple Guy or Springtrap? One thing is for sure, though. Cawthon really knows how to bring the audience along for the ride.
