'Flip or Flop' couple divorce news: Christina opens up about the challenges in their marriage

Tarek and Christina El Moussa are currently going through a divorce, and the latter has spoken up about the challenges that they went through that lead to their current situation. Although the two are separated, Tarek and Christina still want to continue their show on HGTV.

Christina and Tarek El Moussa have been separated for almost a year now, and a lot of rumors are circulating about the couple's divorce. Because of this, Christina has spoken up what really happened in her marriage with Tarek during an interview with PEOPLE.

Christina explained that she and Tarek were just like any other couple that has their own set of issues. But she added that they had gone through "a lot in a short amount of time."

The reality star shared that she and Tarek were still adjusting to their new-found fame when "Flip or Flop" aired on HGTV in 2013, which was also the time that Tarek was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. At the same time, Christina opened up about her struggles of getting pregnant via in vitro fertilization and had a miscarriage the following year.

After their son Brayden was born, Christina had gone back to work only four weeks after giving birth. "It was too soon for me. ... The tension between me and Tarek was high," Christina revealed.

"We weren't able to properly communicate anymore. It got to the point where we weren't even driving to set together," she added.

But since they announced their split, Christina said that she feels relieved and that she's happy for Tarek "whatever steps he takes in his life and I just hope he's happy."

Meanwhile, Christina also revealed while on "Good Morning America" that she and Tarek "just want to be the best parents and co-workers" that they can be, Yahoo! News confirmed. She added that they will continue doing the "Flip or Flop" series and that they are currently shooting its seventh season.

"We have so much fun on set and we look forward to continuing the show," Christina added.
