Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao Next Fight News: Super Fight Could Happen After Chris Algieri Fight
Floyd Mayweather Jr. does not have any fights set for the remainder 2014. However, ever since he defeated Marcos Maidana on September 13th attention has turned to who he will fight next.
CBS Sports reports that Mayweather addressed the question of his next fight in September when he was due to fight Maidana. He suggested the he would fight next in May and September of 2015. He also added that they would be the last two fights of his professional career and he would retire possibility with a 49-0 record.
CBS Sports also noted that Mayweather signed a deal for six pay per view fights with Showtime in 2013. Of those six he has already completed three and defeated Robert Guerrero, Saul Alvarez and Maidana by points.
So with Mayweather 's next fight happening in May 2015, discussion has turned towards who he will face as the comes into the final few fights of his career.
Most desperately want to see a super fight between him and Manny Pacquiao, and CBS Sports notes that even boxing promoter Bob Arum hinted at this possibility. But Mayweather subsequently said there were no discussions about a fight against Pacquiao happening right now.
Pacquiao is currently focusing on his fight against Chris Algieri, which is scheduled for November 2014, and until that takes place it is unlikely talks can develop much about his next fight. Sports World News reports that if Pacquiao beats Algieri the calls for him to fight Mayweather will become louder, espcially as both fighters are now entering the final few years of their careers.
Fight Hype quoting Floyd Mayweather Sr. has reported that the next fight on the roster might be against Amir Khan or Pacquiao. Mostly because Mayweather Sr. feels that his son shouldn't always be fighting opponents bigger than him. So in the final two fights in his career he might think of fighting opponents such as Khan or Pacquiao.
