Tommy Jarvis, the first person to kill Jason, is now a playable character in "Friday the 13th: The Game."

Fans will soon be able to take on the role of Tommy in the hotly-anticipated slasher video game by working together with the title's camp counselors as they try to stay alive while Jason Vorhees tries to kill them in various brutal ways. A new trailer has been released by Gun Media, giving fans a first look at Tommy, who's played by "Jason Lives" actor Thom Matthews. The clip features one of the preppy camp counselors calling for help.

He wields a shotgun, but it remains to be seen if he has other interesting abilities. Tommy's famed "maggot head" taunt is also featured in the trailer, while his appearance is likened to Matthews. He was the third to play Tommy in the original movie franchise, following Corey Feldman and John Shepherd.

Initially scheduled to arrive in October, "Friday the 13th: The Game" has been pushed back to 2017, in part, to give the developers more time to come up with a single-player mode. During its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, the game received more than $800,000, surpassing its original $700,000 goal, after Tommy's arrival was announced.

According to reports, the game will have two releases. Its multiplayer portion is slated to be launched in spring 2017, while the single-player campaign will arrive the following summer. For users who haven't already pre-ordered, the digital version's price has been increased from $30 to $40 because of the added single-player option. However, anyone who purchased the game before the price hike doesn't have to be concerned about paying extra.

Developed by Gun Media and IllFonic, "Friday the 13th: The Game" is an upcoming slasher horror-adventure video game. The story is based on the franchise of the same name owned by New Line Cinema.
