Video game fans who are into the horror genre will now have something to look forward to following the reports emerging that say "Friday the 13th: The Game" is currently under development. There are speculations suggesting that Gun Media and Illfonic will launch the new horror game before the year 2016 ends.

The new video game, which is based on the popular "Friday the 13th" movie franchise, has been a favorite subject of rumors and speculations all over the Internet. Despite the continued silence of Gun Media and Illfonic, fans and critics have been sharing their own prediction on how the game will be like once it hits the market.

According to a report by Christian Times, the new game title will focus more on the franchise's horror roots. Fans will soon know the history of the game's main character, Jason Voorhees, who is known to hack his victims to death while wearing a scary hockey mask.

Meanwhile, in a report by Polygon, the development team originally planned to introduce a single player mode in the game. However, due to funding issues, they decided to temporarily cancel the single player part of "Friday the 13th: The Game" and continued to polish the multiplayer mode.

"No questions whatsoever that we want to revisit single-player if the game does well," says the game's co-creator Wes Keltner. "We're taking pre-orders right now. Every single dime we get is going right back into the game to put that kind of stuff in there."

While it is still uncertain when the team can come up with the single player mode, Keltner describes how it would play out once they are done with it.

"It's the whole background of Hitman," he revealed. "You sit there long enough, and you can figure out where everyone's going and what to do. That's still fun. No question, it's still fun. That's where we want to go with single-player in our game."

As of the moment, fans will have to wait for the game's official release date to be announced by Gun Media and Illfonic.
