'Frozen 2' plot rumors, release date: Hans is a magical mirror? Idina Menzel to be replaced?
Disney has yet to release any official details about the upcoming "Frozen 2," leaving fans to figure out for themselves how the highly anticipated sequel to the 2013 blockbuster hit will play out.
The latest fan theory about "Frozen 2" concerns Prince Hans (Santino Fontana), the dashing prince who swept Princess Anna (Kristen Bell) off her feet but later turned out to be a murderous villain. In a new video by YouTubers The Super Carlin Brothers, an interesting new theory suggests that Hans is — or serves as — a magical mirror of sorts.
Ben of The Super Carlin Brothers points out that one of the central components of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale "The Snow Queen," on which "Frozen" is based, is a magic mirror. He argues that Prince Hans is the personification of this mirror, which is proven by the fact that the character was never seen by himself and that his demeanor, way of talking, and mannerisms changed depending on who he was interacting with.
According to the Super Carlin Brothers, rather than being simply manipulative, Hans was actually mimicking every person he spoke to. Their theory posits that Hans showed the other characters what they seek deep inside. Near the end of the film, one scene in particular seems to confirm the mirror theory. When Hans reveals his true nature to Anna, he steps towards the window and looks at his reflection.
Meanwhile, various sources report that "Frozen" star Idina Menzel, who played Queen Elsa in "Frozen," could be replaced by either Taylor Swift or Rihanna in the upcoming sequel. According to The Inquisitr, Menzel backed out of her role as Elsa in the sequel and Disney has been in talks over a possible replacement. An anonymous source has allegedly confirmed that either Swift or Rihanna will take over the role.
These reports remain unconfirmed and should thus be taken with a grain of salt.
Disney has not announced the official release date for "Frozen 2."
