'Fullmetal Alchemist' movie release date, latest news: Warner Bros. releases two new promo images for upcoming live-action film

In December, Warner Bros. released the first teaser trailer for the live-action movie adaptation of the beloved manga "Fullmetal Alchemist." Although no announcements have been made regarding when the next trailer will be released, two new photos from the movie have been posted on the film's official website as a gift to many "Fullmetal Alchemist" fans.

The two new photos from the "Fullmetal Alchemist" movie gives a better look at Alphonse Elric. The first photo shows Edward Elric, sporting his iconic red coat with a suitcase in his hand, standing on a train platform next to his younger brother. To his left, Alphonse Elric, whose current body is a suit of armor, is watching over his elder brother from his towering height.

The second image can actually be seen from the first teaser trailer released in 2016. It shows Edward facing a menacing, giant beast that looks like it was created from a transmutation circle.

According to Comicbook, Warner Bros. Japan, aside from releasing the thrilling promotional photos from the movie, also announced their plan to host the first large-scale exhibition for the "Fullmetal Alchemist" franchise. During the organized exhibition event, props and costumes from the live-action film are expected to be displayed for the fans to see.

The manga and anime series "Fullmetal Alchemist" follow the story of brothers Edward and Alphonse after the tragic death of their mother. In attempting to resurrect their mother through the use of alchemy, they end up losing Edward's arm and leg as well as Alphonse's entire body in the process.

In order to restore their bodies, the two set out to become State Alchemists in the hopes of finding a powerful item known as the Philosopher's Stone. However, their personal mission of restoring their bodies lead them to a dark world filled with government corruption and even mass genocide.

"Fullmetal Alchemist" is scheduled to premiere in Japan sometime in December 2017. No release date in North America has been announced yet.
