Galaxy Note 4 vs Galaxy S6 Edge Specs, Price Comparison: Features Review - Samsung Curved Device Challenges Phablet
Samsung has retooled its smartphone line up this year with premium materials and new design in its Galaxy S6 Edge. Last year, Samsung's top device in its phablet lineup was the Galaxy Note 4. Here is how the two devices compare.
Design
The S6 Edge is smaller but has premium appearance, thanks to its metal frame and Gorilla Glass 4 back panel. Its screen which has dual curved edges also gives it jaw-dropping good looks. At the same time, the dual curved edges provide added functionality since they can be used to display notifications, a maximum of five contacts and a night clock. They light up with colors associated with the five contacts when anyone of them makes a call. As for the Note 4, it has a metal frame, leather covering its back panel while the rest is made from plastic. However, it comes with a stylus which the S6 Edge lacks.
Display
The Galaxy S6 Edge comes with a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch. The Note 4 has a similar super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 515 pixels per inch.
Specs
The newer S6 Edge comes with better specs and is therefore faster. It has an Exynos 7420 chipset, a CPU with eight cores, four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores and a Mali-T760MP8 GPU. As for the Note 4 it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset along with a quad-core Krait 450 chipset clocked at 2.7 GHz, and an Adreno 420 GPU.
Memory
The new S6 Edge does not have a slot while the Note 4 has a slot which can be used to add 128 GB of external storage. Coming to RAM, the two devices are alike since they both have 3 GB.
Price
The Note 4 is priced at $299 with a two-year contract. The 32 GB S6 Edge also costs $299 with a similar contract.
