Galaxy S6 Edge Tips, Features Review: How to Set Up Special Features in Samsung's New Phone
The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge has a number of special features that can't be found in other smartphones. Here's how to set up some of these cool features for a more enjoyable use of the latest Samsung flagship device.
First, you can get the curved edges on the device to display colors assigned to five important contacts when they call. To enable this, you need to first turn on the lighting on the curved portion by going to Settings > Edge screen > Edge lighting. Then pick the five contacts you want to appear on the edge by navigating to Settings > Edge screen > People edge. Then, assign a particular color for each one of them. In the same section of settings, you may also assign contact and email information for each of your top five important people.
Once the Edge is set up to display the colored notifications, you can reply to messages and calls when the phone is placed on its display. To do this you need to turn the setting on in Settings > Edge Settings > Quick Reply. Then when you can't take a call, just press on the heart rate sensor for two seconds and the call will end and a prewritten message will be sent to the caller.
The curved edge of the device will also display a tab with the color of the important contact once you his or her call. You can just pull it to expand it. In the expanded section, you can send them an email or a text message or call them.
News notifications from websites can be displayed on the edge. To set them, go to Settings > Edge Settings > Information Stream.
You can also choose which edge of the phone you want your contacts and news notifications displayed on by selecting Right Side or Left Side in the Settings > Edge Screen > Edge Screen Position section.
Finally, one of the coolest features of the S6 Edge allows for a night clock to be displayed on the edge while the rest of the screen is inactive. To set this up, go to Settings > Edge screen > Night clock and turn it on.
