The whale-sized Nexus 6 from Motorola and Google overshadowed the Samsung Galaxy S5 last year. However, this year, the Nexus 6 finds itself trailing the latest Samsung flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6, in terms of looks and specs.

Design

At the heart of the S6 Edge is a major style evolution. This is clearly visible in its stunning screen that has dual curved edges. The curved portion of the screen can be used as a night clock. It can also display news notifications and glow with a specific color assigned to certain contacts when they call. The build of the device has also improved with its metal frame and Gorilla Glass 4 on its back panel. As for the Nexus 6, it is much bigger compared to its competitor. However, in terms of design it is hampered by a plastic back which reduces the impact of its aluminum frame.

Display

On the S6 Edge is a super AMOLED touchscreen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch. Its high quality display is one of the best in the market. On the other hand, the Nexus 6 has a AMOLED touchscreen measuring 5.96 inches with a resolution of1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 493 pixels per inch.

Specs

It is a norm for smartphones that have been released recently to have the very latest in specs. As such the newly released S6 Edge handily outshines its competitor. It has an Exynos 7420 chipset along with a CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760MP8 GPU. As for the Nexus 6 it is not exactly a laggard since it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, along with a quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 CPU and an Adreno 420 GPU.

Memory

In terms of memory slots, the S6 Edge and the Nexus 6 are quite similar as both do not have slots. They also come with 3 GB of RAM each.

Price

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is priced at $100 above the Galaxy S6. With a two-year contract it costs $299. The Nexus 6 costs $250 with a similar contract.
