Galaxy S6, S6 Edge Updates: Samsung's Europe and Asia Customers Get Phone Enhancements
Specific carriers in Asia and Europe released last week an over the air, or OTA, update for the Galaxy S6 and its curved screen sibling, the S6 Edge. This week, a slightly larger update arrived for the devices in Europe and Asia. The update is expected to improve the fingerprint recognition on the devices.
The size of last week's OTA update was 138.32MB and featured the build number G920FXXU1AODG. The update featured the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop version. After it arrived, many users noted that it resolved the problem with memory management that had been causing some apps to crash or shut down. That problem was linked to Android Lollipop and had not been fixed until then.
The change log for the update showed bug fixes, enhanced features and improvement in device stability. The two updates rolled out within a space of a week right after the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were released. Previously, Samsung had been taken to task by users for releasing updates at a slow pace.
This week's update, which measured 159.29MB, brought improvement to the fingerprint recognition process and added a new feature to the Photo Editor on the devices. The change log for the update also noted the improvements on the interface of some Samsung apps and their connections other hardware such as accessories.
Android Authority noted that although many users of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in Europe and Asia were able to benefit from the first update, other customers were not able to receive it yet. It would seem though that it's just a matter of time before the rest of the world receives the latest updates from Samsung.
