Following the suicide of her last living child, King Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman), the deaths of her enemies, and her ascension to the throne, Westeros' new Queen Cersei (Lena Headey) seems headed for a rage-filled reign of terror and violence.

"I don't feel comfort, I'm pondering where she can go from here," Headey recently told The Wrap about her character's fate in next year's highly anticipated "Game of Thrones" season 7. "I don't think it will end well. Who knows?"

According to the "Game of Thrones" star, who was recently nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of the villainous character, Cersei is "so tired" from her consecutive personal losses. The queen had already lost her father, Tywin (Charles Dance), and two of her children — Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) and Myrcella (Nell Tiger Free) — before Tommen jumped to his death in the stunning "Game of Thrones" season 6 finale. Season 7 will thus find Cersei coming to terms with that final, very personal blow.

"The thing that gave her humanity was her kids," Headey explained. "They're gone now."

"This will be such an interesting season for them," she added. "Where do they go? It's so toxic now."

Meanwhile, season 7 could see the return of a key character, one who has been missing since season 3.

The last time viewers saw Gendry (Joe Dempsie), the bastard son of the late King Robert (Mark Addy), he had been rescued by Ser Davos (Liam Cunningham) from Melisandre (Carice van Houten) and Stannis (Stephen Dillane), who had planned on using him as a sacrifice to ensure Stannis' victory in the War of the Five Kings.

Before they could do that, Davos took Gendry from the dungeons and put him on a boat to King's Landing.

Gendry's storyline is arguably one of the biggest question marks in "Game of Thrones," and with the series coming to an end, fans have been clamoring to find out if the show's producers intend on continuing the character's story.

Speaking with the press at a recent screening of "One of Us," his new BBC One series, Dempsie said that he is just as in the dark as everyone else about his character's fate.

"It's a bit of a loose end, and they don't make a habit of leaving them untied — and actually as the series has progressed, the more 'forgotten' characters that have returned, the more Gendry sticks out like a sore thumb," he said.

"So I don't know. Watch this space, I guess," he added.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 debuts in 2017 on HBO.
