'Game of Thrones' season 7 release date, cast news, plot updates: Sam and Gilly to return to Castle Black?

Sam (John Bradley-West) and Gilly (Hannah Murray) might be returning to The Wall in season 7. Meanwhile, Iain Glen shares a few details about the production of the show's seventh season.

Previously in "Game of Thrones" season 6, Sam and Gilly went to Old Town so that Sam can train to become a maester for The Wall. In the upcoming seventh season of "Game of Thrones," it appears that Sam has finished his training and that he will be returning to Castle Black with Gilly and little Sam.

Based on the set photos revealed by the Spanish site Hoy, Sam, Gilly, and little Sam appears to be in a carriage that was about to leave Old Town. They are shown to be wearing winter clothes, which hints that they might be returning to Castle Black, Watchers on the Wall reports.

Sam would be pleased to find out when he returns to The Wall that his best friend Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) has become King of the North.

Meanwhile, the actor who plays Ser Jorah Mormont shared with Radio Times how the filming for season 7 is coming along.

Glen shared that even though there are only seven episodes for the upcoming season, filming is taking longer than what is the norm. He also added that in 2018, "Game of Thrones" will only have six episodes to show, but there might be a chance that it could change.

"There are fifteen more hours left in Thrones as we understand it, but that may change, but that's as far as we know," Glen said.

Glen explained that the reason why it's taking longer than before to shoot the episodes is because the world and the stories have grown complex and much more time is needed to shoot the seven episodes compared to the previous 10.

Showrunner David Benioff shared that they already know how the series will end and that they are already nearing it.

"Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) is finally coming back to Westeros; Jon Snow is king of the North and Cersei (Lena Headey) is sitting on the Iron Throne. And we know the Night King is up there, waiting for all of them. The pieces are on the board now. Some of the pieces have been removed from the board and we are heading toward the end game," the showrunner said.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 is expected to premiere in 2017.
