'Game of Thrones' season 7 spoilers rumors and leaks: Actress shares insight on dramatic Hodor scene
The dramatic sixth season of "Game of Thrones" presented a lot of deaths that shocked many fans. One of the most memorable deaths in "Game of Thrones" season 6 was Hodor's, even though he was not one of the main characters. Hodor is famous in the series as a character who can only say the word "Hodor."
Prior to season six, the reason for his speech impediment was not explained, causing fans to wonder what Hodor's origin was. With that, the most recent season of "Game of Thrones" finally gave some insight into his story before he was killed off.
Played by Kristian Nairn, Hodor got his name from a phrase that he heard in the midst of his death. While Bran Stark and Meera Reed were trying to escape, Hodor was told to "Hold The Door," resulting in his name.
Ellie Kendrick, who played the role of Meera Reed, shared her sentiments on the heartbreaking scene. She stated that she did not expect for the scene to be such a dramatic event for fans. She said, "When I first read the 'hold the door' scene, I knew it was going to be big and people were going to get pretty excited about it. But I didn't know that it was going to get quite the reaction that it did. People were putting stickers on elevator doors with Kristian's face, which was hilarious."
Nevertheless, she said that it was a great way to conclude Hodor's story, who was a loyal friend to Bran throughout the narrative. Kendrick shared, "The Hodor character is such a brilliant one and Kristian Nairn did it with such love. It was great to see him get a real moment there and a sad one. It was brilliant to see the reaction everyone had."
With that, there is a lot to look forward to when "Game of Thrones" season 7 returns to the small screens.
