'Gears of War 4' December DLC release date news: new maps, Christmas-inspired contents to be released in December
Christmas is coming for "Gears of War 4" fans as Microsoft releases several new contents for Season Pass owners this December.
The game publisher revealed that the upcoming "Gears of War 4" December update will come with two new maps after they released the Drydock and Checkout maps in November.
One of the latest battlegrounds for the game is called the Speyer, which features luxurious interiors and picturesque plazas. The other brand-new map is called Glory, which used to be an old COG that was once used by the military for attacking the most tactical targets to avoid blowing up its secrecy.
Both maps will be released to the public on Tuesday, Dec. 13. However, the arrival of the new maps means that two old maps will be removed, including Relic and Gridlock.
The "Gears of War 4" December update will also bring a number of improvements that was highly requested by fans since the game's release in Oct. 2016.
Some of the new features include a daily Rewards system, a vertical split-screen that was demanded by players who use Windows 10, an enhanced visual feedback for all the damages that was incurred with the Gnasher, and better footstep audio balance, among others.
The upcoming update will also allow Season Pass owners to earn more XP and Credit rewards whenever they play the Developer Playlist during its first week of availability. They will also have the chance to play both the Speyer and Glory maps earlier compared to those who did not purchase the Season Pass, since it will be available for them as early as Tuesday, Dec. 6.
Also, Microsoft will celebrate Christmas with "Gears of War 4" players by launching a "Gearsmas" event where the players can earn a new holiday-inspired content. The game studio is expected to release more details about the holiday event soon.
