'Ghost in the Shell' release date, news and updates: First trailer and opening two-minutes of the movie leaked

For months, the live-action adaptation of the classic anime "Ghost in the Shell" has been teased but the good news is that a full trailer has finally been released. It showcases more of the story of the movie and fans get to see more of Scarlett Johansson as Major Kusanagi.

The clip runs for about two minutes, and it features all of the footage that has been seen in previous teasers including scenes like the circle of monks inside a room full of wires, and Beat Takeshi's character Dasiuke Aramaki unloading bullets on the street.

The clip also has the Major unveiling her battle suit and diving down a building just like in the anime. There's also a fight scene in the water where the Major takes down a thug in the same suit. It gives a preview of the Major's partner, Batou (Pilou Asbæk), who seems to have cybernetic implants on his eyes.

Johansson's character in the movie is a robot, and a voiceover says that before she became the Major, she was a dying person who was saved in order to save others. The clip supposedly ends with Michael Pitt's character Kuze saying, "Everything they told you was a lie. They did not save your life. They stole it."

Aside from that, the opening two minutes of the movie have also been leaked online, and it features a modernized remake of the opening scene from the anime. It's even reported that director Rupert Sanders brought in the original anime's composer, Kenji Kawai, to create a new drum composition for the movie.

The new opening made for the movie is more modern and cleaner as compared to the original which featured a more rugged-looking mechanical skeleton and a fully nude Major Kusanagi.
