'Gilmore Girls' revival release date: Netflix dropping all 153 'Gilmore Girls' episodes ahead of revival
"Gilmore Girls" fans are in for a major treat.
This week, Netflix announced that all seven seasons of cult favorite comedy/drama "Gilmore Girls," which ran from 2000 to 2007, will be made available to watch online beginning this Friday, July 1.
All 153 episodes of the show's original seven-season run will be available in all countries where the streaming service is available. This should give long-time "Gilmore Girls" fans and newbies alike sufficient time to catch up on the entire series before the four-episode revival, "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life," drops later this year.
The announcement was made by "Gilmore Girls" star Lauren Graham, who played the role of Lorelai Gilmore in the series. In the video announcing the start of the global binge-watching, Graham began by greeting viewers in various languages and hinting at the hotly anticipated Netflix revival.
"You may have heard that new episodes of 'Gilmore Girls' are coming to Netflix later this year," the actress says in the promo clip. "We can't wait."
"Maybe you've seen 'Gilmore Girls,' or maybe you've never seen it, but always meant to watch it," she said. "Either way, now you can."
"Welcome to Stars Hollow," she added, before giving viewers a warning. "Be careful, we talk fast."
While the entire "Gilmore Girls" series has been available to Netflix subscribers in the U.S., July 1 marks the first time that all 153 episodes will be available to subscribers in other parts of the globe.
Meanwhile, apart from the occasional slip, details about the revival have been kept tightly under wraps.
In April, "The Good Wife" alum Matt Czuchry, who is set to reprise his role as Logan Huntzberger in the revival event, spoke about what the special limited event means to him and his co-stars.
"The fact that it's coming together feels really, really special for all the cast, all the crew, and for the fans as well," the actor told Entertainment Tonight.
"Those four scripts, it's 90-minute movies on Netflix and they're incredible," he added.
Netflix has yet to announce the official release date for "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life."
