The future looks grim for Disney Channel's TV series "Girl Meets World."

"Girl Meets World" actor Rider Strong, who is best known for his role as Shawn Hunter in the original 90s sitcom "Boy Meets World," revealed on his podcast, Literary Disco, that the Disney show will conclude after the third season.

"We finished the third season of Girl Meets World—my brother and I were directing a lot of episodes and I acted in a couple—and the show ended," Strong said.

With fans worrying that the show may actually come to an end next year, the show's writers tried to calm such concerns on Twitter.

According to the writers, there is no official word yet about the future of the TV series, but Disney's decision about the show's fourth season is expected to be announced soon. At the moment, "Girl Meets World" season 3 is scheduled to conclude with 3 more episodes in January.

"Whatever happens, it has been a great joy to get to continue this story. If it is over, thank you. If not, we will keep giving our best," the writers concluded.

According to Deadline, their sources claim that Disney Channel has not officially notified the cast and crew of "Girl Meets World" about its future. However, no renewal is expected to happen, with its upcoming Jan. 20 episode and season 3 finale, titled "Girl Meets Goodbye," also serving as a series finale.

The alleged final episode will be featuring a major "Boy Meets World" reunion, in which Strong, Ben Savage, William Daniels, Will Friedle, Anthony Tyler Quinn, Lee Norris, Danny McNulty, William Russ, and Betsy Randle will reportedly appear.

As reported by E! News, Disney has yet to comment on the rumors of the show's conclusion. No other cast member has issued a statement on the matter either.

"Girl Meets World" season 3 returns on Jan. 6, 2017 with an hour-long special on Disney Channel.
