'Girl Meets World' news: Disney XD series axed after 3 seasons; Rowan Blanchard weighs in on show's cancellation
"Girl Meets World" received its official cancellation notice from Disney last week, and lead star Rowan Blanchard recently shared her thoughts on the show's end.
According to reports, Blanchard revealed she's tried writing a farewell letter to "Girl Meets World" fans on previous occasions when it looked like the series wasn't going to be renewed for another run. Right after Disney confirmed its cancellation on Wednesday, the teen actress finally published it on Twitter.
"Being on 'Girl Meets World' is the most significant event in my life thus far," the 15-year-old wrote in her essay. "Doing a show in general — specifically doing a show as a child into your teenhood — is so indescribably cosmic and scary, but you do it because you love these people, because this has become your routine, because it is the closest you will get to being in real school, etc. I am crying typing this because, yes, we were making a show but our lives turned into a movie," she went on to say.
Blanchard went on to say that she was trying to cope with the news by telling herself that "these moments are forever" and that the emotions she's feeling "must amount to something much greater than a simple end." She also took the opportunity to express her gratitude to the parents and kids who made up the show's audience.
On another note, it looks like Blanchard was actually with her co-star and on-screen brother August Maturo when she learned about the show's cancellation. Maturo's mom shared a photo of the two young actors together in their snow gear, revealing in the caption that their families were together on a ski trip when they heard the news.
Despite the end of "Girl Meets World," Disney hasn't quite given up on reboots just yet. The network announced last year that it's preparing for the return of "That's So Raven," with Raven-Symoné's titular character back as a single mom. "Fuller House," the show that recently started the TV reboot craze, was also renewed by Netflix for a third season.
