'Girl Meets World' season 4 release date news 2016: lead stars spotted filming in New York?

The third season of "Girl Meets World" is currently under hiatus after its Christmas episode, but fans of the spinoff series are already eager to learn if the show will still have a season 4.

The series had been a subject of persistent cancellation rumors since the beginning of season 3. According to reports, the plot of the spinoff series from ABC's coming-of-age sitcom "Boy Meets World" is already becoming too mature for Disney Channel's intended audience. But new reports from GameNGuide claim that lead stars Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter are already filming for the fourth season in New York.

The reports also claim that there is a big possibility that "Girl Meets World" season 4 will no longer air on Disney Channel; instead, the sitcom will be seen on the network's sister channel, Freeform.

However, it seems like the renewal for "Girl Meets World" season 4 is still not confirmed based on the latest post from some of its cast members.

In her Twitter post back in November, Cheryl Texiera posted a heartfelt letter addressed to Disney Channel to appeal for the renewal of "Girl Meets World" for its fourth season. According to the actress who portrays Maya's (Carpenter) mother Katy Hart, the camaraderie that she felt within the set was shared not just by the fans and crew, since they also feel the bond with the show's fans.

The actress also said, "This show is about family — it's about friends — it's an honest coming of age tale that needs to be told. Especially in today's market." She also explained that the show is a reflection of what a typical teenager is, which anyone can easily relate to. That is why she is appealing to the network to renew the show for a fourth season.

Disney Channel has yet to respond to petition and cancellation renewal of "Girl Meets World" season 4.
