'Girls' season 6 release date news, spoilers, trailer: Season 6 trailer drops; Hannah gets pregnant in final season?
HBO released the first extended preview for "Girls" season 6 this week and it shows Hannah (Lena Dunham) and her friends taking one final stab at being adults. The sixth season of the HBO drama/comedy will be its last.
Judging from the trailer for "Girls" season 6, former couple Marnie (Allison Williams) and Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) are back together or have at least managed to stay good friends. The trailer begins with Hannah waiting on a stoop and the two driving up in a red convertible to give her a lift. Earlier this year, "Girls" co-showrunner Jenni Konner told The Hollywood Reporter that Marnie and Desi will continue to work and go on tour together, "like the White Stripes," meaning they won't necessarily be romantically involved.
Meanwhile, Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and Adam (Adam Driver) appear to be going strong and may have something big to celebrate, judging from their triumphant expressions in one scene. Ex-lovers Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) and Ray (Alex Karpovsky) are also in the sneak peek, where they may have given each other a longing glance.
In the clip, Hannah tells Elijah (Andrew Rannells), "I haven't made my mark on this city yet," to which he responds, "You've made so many wonderful friendships." Both snort and crack up at this remark. "That's not a thing!" Elijah admits.
In October, HBO vice president Kathleen McCaffrey spoke to THR about the show's sixth and final season, saying, "In my time now as an executive, I've seen a few shows end, and I'd say that the biggest thing that stands out about this season is that they found — and I knew this was coming — they found a beautiful way to close the story that feels both satisfying and I think leaves it open for the possibility for all of us to wonder what happens to each of them."
As for season 6 spoilers, photos taken from the filming of the final "Girls" season indicate that Hannah could be pregnant. This summer, New York City residents were able to take snaps and videos of Dunham filming with a small but unmistakable baby bump. According to The Independent, one scene even involved Adam putting his hand on Hannah's belly.
"Girls" season 6 premieres on Feb. 12, 2017, at 10 p.m. EST on HBO.
