After the "God of War 4" was revealed during E3 2016, nothing much has been heard about the development of the upcoming game aside from the single gameplay trailer released at the time. Six months have passed, and many of the game franchise's supporters have grown tired of waiting for any news about how the game is coming along. Some have even feared that the game's development has somehow completely stalled.

However, game director Cory Barlog recently dispelled these negative rumors. A Twitter user complained about the lack of news about the game's development and mentioned that he had given up on waiting for any information about its progress. Barlog responded to the game fan's sentiment by assuring him that there is indeed a whole game in the works. He even divulged that they have just finished the first full playthrough with the game's leads.

According to Cinema Blend, this new milestone means that "God of War 4" is, at the very least, in a finished alpha state. All of the basic mechanics have been put in place, and all the functional level interactions have been finished. However, this does not mean that the game is fully complete and is functional without any sort of glitches or issues.

The new "God of War" game, according to Gamespot, is set after the events of "God of War 3." It won't be featuring an open world, and it will not have a multiplayer mode. Instead, the much-awaited installment to the "God of War" franchise will offer a "more diverse emotional palette."

The game also won't be featuring original Kratos voice actor, T.C. Carson. The job has been taken over by "Stargate SG-1" actor Christopher Judge.

The upcoming "God of War 4" still has no official release date. And despite anticipation from gaming fans, Sony has yet to release a new teaser or trailer to update the fans about the progress of the game.
