Google Nexus 2016 release date, specs news update: Pixel X and Pixel XL are Google's new flagship smartphones?

The Google Nexus 2016 has been in the rumor mill for quite some time now. Previous reports suggest that Google has already partnered with HTC to develop two Nexus devices dubbed as Nexus Sailfish and Nexus Marlin. However, new speculations emerged online saying that Google will discontinue the Nexus line and replace it with a new flagship handset.

According to a report by The Verge, the upcoming Sailfish and Marlin are still going to be developed by HTC; however, it will no longer carry the HTC brand name. According to the publication, both devices will have a Google logo on it. As of the moment, no report has surfaced yet as to what brand will the company use instead of Nexus.

In a report by Android Central, Google will also change the interface of the device to provide a different experience to its users. Nonetheless, both the Sailfish and Marlin are still going to run on an Android operating system. Many people expect that the two smartphones will carry the latest version of Android Nougat.

According to an earlier report by PC Adviser, Google will use the Pixel X and Pixel XL brand names to replace Nexus. The publication said that the new Google smartphones will most likely come out on Oct. 4.

Meanwhile, new reports are saying that the American search engine firm is also planning to release a new tablet this year. According to BGR, the company is going to launch multiple devices in the following weeks including the highly anticipated Google Sailfish and Marlin smartphones. According to known tech tipster, Evan Blass, the new Google tablet is manufactured by Huawei.

"Google's Huawei-built 7-inch tablet, with 4 GB RAM, on track for release before the end of the year," Blass posted on his Twitter.

Despite the heavy rumors regarding their upcoming releases, Google has remained silent about it. Fans are definitely excited to know more about these new Google devices.
