The Nexus 6 and the Moto X are both manufactured by Motorola; hence, the devices share some common features. However, they still have plenty of differences.
Design
Moto X has a solid metal frame and its front curves over its edges and flows into a back panel which can be customized with a variety of finishes including natural wood, plastic, bamboo and leather. As for the Nexus 6, it comes with a metal frame and its back panel is made from polycarbonate. However, it only has a limited amount of color options.
Display
The Nexus 6 is truly the king of phablets in terms of size, as it has a 5.96-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 493 pixels per inch. Compared to this, the Moto X has a 5.2-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 424 pixels per inch.
Specs
Both devices run the Android OS, but the Moto X comes with 4.4.4 KitKat and can be upgraded to Lollipop, while the Nexus 6 comes loaded with 5.0 Lollipop. The Nexus 6 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 CPU and Adreno 420 GPU. As for the Moto X, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU.
Memory
Both devices do not have memory card slots; hence, no external storage can be added. In terms of RAM the Moto X has 2 GB while the Nexus 6 has 3 GB.
Camera
Both devices have 13 megapixel cameras at their rear, but the Nexus 6 has a slight edge as it also has optical image stabilization.
Price
The Nexus 6 at its full retail price costs $648, but with a two-year contract it is priced at $250. As for the Moto X it can be purchased for $99 as part of a two-year contract while its full retail price is $549.
