Google Nexus 7 release date, specs, features news: Will Google still release the 7-inch tablet?
Despite the rumored cancellation of Nexus 7 in April 2015, rumors continue to come out about the development of the tablet device in the coming days.
Past speculations claimed that the rumored Nexus 7 2017 tablet from Google could possibly come out in 2016.
One of the speculations stemmed from mobile reporter and consistent gadget tipster Evan Blass, who revealed in a Twitter post back in September that the seven-inch tablet that will be manufactured by Huawei will be equipped with a 4 GB random-access memory (RAM). He also mentioned that the development was on track for release before the end of 2016.
The year is about to end in a few weeks, but Google has yet to make an announcement about the device at the moment.
Other rumors claimed that the new Nexus tablet will be unveiled alongside the new Pixel X and Pixel XL smartphones in October 2016, but it never happened.
The first generation of Nexus 7 that was manufactured by Asus was first released in 2012; then, it was followed by another Asus-manufactured tablet device that came out in 2013.
Neurogadget, on the other hand, pointed out that Nexus 7 was already canceled after the two models came out. The report cited the statement of Android engineering head, Hiroshi Lockheimer, to Bloomberg that the Nexus line is already dead.
"I don't want to close a door completely, but there is no plan right now to do more Nexus devices," Lockheimer stated in an interview back in October.
But if a new edition of Nexus 7 will be released in the future, speculations claimed that the rumored device will feature a 7-inch quad high-definition (QHD) screen display. It is also expected to be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor as well as an Adreno 530 chip. Speculations also claimed that the device will have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of built-in storage, while the external memory can be expanded up to 2 TB.
