Google launched a new Pixel phone line this 2016, but no announcements have so far been made about the launch of a tablet device. As 2016 is about to come to a close, tech enthusiasts are anticipating the arrival of the Google Nexus 7 tablet next year, and many wonder what its features could be.

According to a report by The USB Port, the much-anticipated Google Nexus 7 tablet will possibly have a 7-inch QHD display with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. The gadget will potentially be equipped with a finger scanner, a 13-megapixel read camera, and an 8-megapixel front snapper. The device will run with a 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of storage. It will also come with a microSD card slot to expand its storage power.

There are also reports that the upcoming Google tablet will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor and will run with a 3,000 mAh battery. The specs are reportedly decent enough to compete with the coming Apple and Microsoft tablet models for 2017, but Google will be selling the Nexus 7 at arguably cheaper prices.

After the release of the Google Pixel phones earlier this year, there are reports that the Google Nexus 7 will be rebranded and integrated into the Pixel product line. Google may change the name of Nexus 7 for branding purposes to fit the Pixel brand name. Hence, the upcoming tablet may soon be released as Google Pixel 7.

There were earlier rumors that Google intended for Huawei to manufacture the Pixel phones. However, the Chinese manufacturer declined Google's offer. According to MobiPicker, in light of this development, it is very likely that the manufacturing of the Nexus 7 will be handed over to HTC, the Taiwanese company which cooperated with Google on the Nexus 9 tablet.

Speculations suggest that the Google Nexus 7 will be released sometime in the summer of 2017.
