Google Nexus 7 tablet release date, news, specs rumors: Google rebrands upcoming tablet as Pixel 7; To boast Andromeda hybrid OS?
The much-awaited next iteration of the Google Nexus 7 tablet is rumored to be released before the year ends. However, the Nexus followers should be ready for any possible major changes that the new device would be offering. The upcoming tablet's label itself, Nexus, is among the few things that will be changed by Google upon its release. From Nexus 7, the next Google tablet will now be called as the Pixel 7.
According to Game N Guide, it is rumored that the new Google Nexus 7, or Pixel 7, will be released this December. It is possible that Google is waiting for the holiday season to unveil their next device to attract more buyers. The features of the Pixel 7 will be different and much improved compared to its predecessors, and the tablet poses a threat to Apple's iPad Pro in terms of core specifications and performance.
It was earlier thought that the new Nexus 7 tablet will be released on October 4 in time for Google's hardware event. However, the said event was focused on the unveiling of the new Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, which are said to be the replacements of the Nexus handsets. No Nexus tablet was seen during the company's presentation, although the Pixel rebranding of the Nexus smartphones basically shows what to expect when the Nexus 7, or Pixel 7, is finally released.
According to PC Advisor, Huawei has entered a partnership with HTC for the huge Google Nexus 7 project. It is getting more likely that the Nexus tag will be dropped on the upcoming tablet as well, although there are still reports claiming that this year's Nexus 7 tablet might be the last in the Nexus series before Google finally begins to use the Pixel label on their future tablets.
Meanwhile, one of the most exciting features of the upcoming Google Nexus tablet is the Andromeda OS. Android Police reported that the tablet will be the first Google device to sport latest Andromeda hybrid operating system. This OS is the combination of the mobile device' Android OS and the desktop's Chrome OS. All the best features of these two different operating systems will be present in the new Nexus tablet, making it the most promising device yet from Google.
The Nexus 7 is rumored to adopt an AMOLED screen, and the device is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 820 and Adreno 530 chipsets. The tablet will have a minimum of 64GB storage capacity, based on the existing variants, plus 4GB RAM.
