Google Nexus Tablet 7 release date, news, rumors: Upcoming Nexus tablet to be launched as Pixel 7 in October
Google appears to have prepared a lot of new and exciting things for the public. The company has already revealed that it will be holding a special press event this coming Oct. 4 for a very special announcement. The rumors are rife that the event will involve the unveiling of the new Nexus smartphones and tablets. However, there might be more things expected from Google during the event as it is rumored that the company will also be leaving the Nexus label altogether. Thus, the brand-new Pixel lineup will be born.
It was already reported that the much-awaited Google Nexus 2016 smartphones will no longer be known as Nexus devices. Instead, they will be introduced as Pixel and Pixel XL, the former being the base variant while the latter is the high-tier model. Likewise, Google is also expected to do a rebranding of their Nexus tablet lineup. Similar to the Pixel smartphones, the Nexus tablet will no longer be under the Nexus moniker Instead, the upcoming tablet from Google will be called as Pixel 7.
A known tech leaker, Evan Blass, first called the upcoming Google tablet as "Google's Huawei-built 7-inch tablet." The first rumors also came in that Google will no longer use the Nexus label for their upcoming device. Huawei, who confirmed their involvement in the development of Google's Daydream VR, has not yet confirmed or denied its rumored participation with the Pixel 7 tablet. Nevertheless, there is nothing to stop the arrival of the next iteration of Google's own tablet device this year.
In his recent notes, Blass claims that the upcoming Google tablet will be packing with 4 GB of RAM, which is an indication that it will be a flagship device similar to the previous Nexus tablets.
The Pixel 7 tablet is expected to use either a Snapdragon 625 or Snapdragon 820 chipset. It is also rumored that the tablet will have 64 GB internal storage capacity that can be further be extended up to 2 TB with the use of a microSD card.
According to iTech Post, the Pixel 7 may sport enhanced camera features. Its rear camera could go as high as 13MP, while its front or selfie camera will sport a 5 MP sensor. Just like the Nexus tablet, the Pixel 7 is expected to have a reasonable price tag. For now, it is estimated to cost around $258. enthusiasts suggest that it will have improved cameras. PC Advisor reported that the much-awaited Pixel lineup will be unveiled at the Oct. 4 event. The huge event will begin at 9 a.m. PT or 12 p.m. EST, with a special website assigned by Google offering a live stream coverage.
