'Gotham' season 3 news: Mad Hatter's sister Alice shows up in a new promo for the show

The current season for "Gotham" is subtitled "Mad City" and it will feature the debut of classic Batman villain, The Mad Hatter aka Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel). New promos have been released for the next episode titled, "Look into My Eyes," and one of the clips features the Hatter's sister Alice (Naian Gonzalez Norvind).

The clip features Alice being harassed by her landlord who is asking for her to pay rent. He forces himself on her, but the moment he kisses her, his body starts to have a reaction which would likely lead to his death.

The character of the Mad Hatter initially had no sister in the comics, but he was obsessed with Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland." The showrunners seem to have put a new twist with the character's origin, even giving the Alice character a power of her own — the only other Batman character who had super-powered kisses was Poison Ivy aka Pamela Isley.

Alice is most likely the result of Hugo Strange's Indian Hill experiments. This season also marks the debut of a much older Poison Ivy played by Maggie Geha, and her origin is also linked with Indian Hill. Other characters incoming this season are also said to have their powers drawn from the experiments; characters like a proto-Killer Croc and Solomon Grundy.

Aside from the promos, FOX has also released a bunch of new stills from the next episode. The pictures showcase Alfred (Sean Pertwee) sparring with Bruce (David Mazouz); another look at all the classic villains like Catwoman (Camren Bicondiva), Penguin (Robin Taylor), and the Riddler (Cory Michael Smith); and lead character Jim Gordon (Ben Mckenzie) standing next to Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue).

There's also a still of the Mad Hatter holding up his pocket watch in what looks like a hypnotism scene. It's said that he will be seeking the help of Gordon as he looks for his missing sister Alice.

"Gotham" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
