'Gotham' season 3 release date, plot news 2016: New images of this season's upcoming villains revealed

Maggie Geha as Ivy Pepper in "Gotham" | Fox

The third season of "Gotham" has been dubbed "Mad City" and it looks like more villains will be introduced when the season kicks in. New stills have been leaked of Maggie Geha as an older Poison Ivy, and it seems like Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) will be having trouble when his doppelganger arrives in Gotham.

The new batch of images comes from the episode "Burn the Witch" and it looks like the episode will be introducing the new Poison Ivy to audiences. Back in the first season of "Gotham," Poison Ivy aka Ivy Pepper was introduced as a child in the form of Clare Foley.

A lot of fans have been confused with the character's sudden ageing but it's explained that the reason for Ivy's adulthood was because of a run-in with a creature from Indian Hill that could accelerate the aging process.

Ivy's popularity among "Batman" fans has always been due to her abilities as a seductress. But having her as a child in an adult body could lead the showrunners to change her characterization.

The other pictures give looks at Jamie Chung's reporter character, Valerie Vale. There has been no confirmation of her connection with the comics' Vicki Vale, however. Vicki is known to be one of the primary love interests of Batman and she has appeared in Tim Burton's 1989 classic "Batman" movie, played by Kim Basinger. Since Bruce Wayne is still a child in the series, it could mean that Valerie is Vicki's mother or close relative.

Another image also has Bruce meeting up with the Court of Owls. The Court is an ancient organization in Gotham which has been controlling crime from behind the scenes. Bruce Wayne's involvement with them could spell trouble for the would-be Caped Crusader.

"Gotham" season 3 premieres Monday, Sept. 26, at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
