'Gotham' Spoilers, Latest News: Has Joker Arrived? Maniacal Baddie to Debut on Feb. 16 Show 'The Blind Fortune Teller'
Fox is ready to bring out The Joker, the greatest villain in "Batman," and the network giant is not clowning around.
After teasing and hinting that the iconic DC Comics villain is coming using little Easter Eggs hidden throughout each episode all season long, "Gotham" will finally introduce the maniacal baddie next week.
In "The Blind Fortune Teller" episode that will be aired on Feb. 16, Fox will debut "Jerome," promising that the next villain to invade Bruce Wayne's home is no joke at all.
Cameron Monaghan, Ian on Showtime's "Shameless," portrays Jerome, a character about whom little else is known other than his creepy stare and maniacal cackle.
That certainly fits the Joker's history, as the character's origins in the comic book have never concretely been outlined—and even when details are revealed about him, their veracity is always up for debate, Slashfilm said.
After catching just a few seconds of his maniacal grin, his uncontrollable giggle that can't stop until it becomes a full, gasping-for-air hysterical laughter, Monaghan sure can take on the role that Heath Ledger made legendary in the Dark Knight trilogy.
"Gotham" has already debuted a number of the most famous members of Batman's rogues gallery including the Penguin, Scarecrow, Harvet Dent, the Riddler, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy.
Developed by Bruno Heller, "Gotham" is an American crime television series that stars Ben McKenzie as the young James Gordon.
As originally conceived, the series would have served as a straightforward story of Gordon's early days on the Gotham City police force, as well as telling the origin stories of the young Bruce Wayne's character.
The first season order originally consisted of 16 episodes, but was later extended to 22.
