'Grand Theft Auto 6' release date news 2016: Can fans expect the game to be announced at next year's E3?
A lot of "Grand Theft Auto" fans were disappointed when Rockstar, the developers of the hit game, were a no-show during Sony's Playstation meeting. Fans were expecting an update on the next game in the franchise but with the developers' absence in the convention, some have speculated that "Grand Theft Auto 6" ("GTA 6") could probably be announced in next year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
Reports are saying that the announcement of "GTA 6" may need a bigger event. With the cultural impact and controversy that the games have been able to bring to the online community, it's only right that Rockstar has a special announcement in mind. If the game is to be announced at the E3 2017, however, that means players will have to wait till 2018 to get their hands on the game.
Worst case scenario? The next "GTA" game could arrive sometime around 2020.
The BitBag, however, reports that "GTA 6" has been cancelled for now. The source says that the company is currently prioritizing on making improvements on "GTA V" instead. With the virtual reality genre gaining a solid fanbase, some speculate that the developers are working on a VR-ready sequel to "GTA V," so by the time "GTA 6" rolls in, fans will be able to enjoy the game in a way that it hasn't been enjoyed before.
A lot of fans are very disappointed with the news that "GTA 6" will be taking a while. There were even rumors that actress Eva Mendez will be onboard with the project, and that she will be playing the game's lead character. Even "Drive" star Ryan Gosling has been said to be attached to the production of "GTA 6."
As of now, Rockstar has been quiet on any news of a sequel but fans are hopeful that an announcement will be made next year.
