'Gravity Rush: Overture' release date, latest news: Sony releases 'Gravity Rush' anime for free on Youtube

As promised by Sony, the animated short "Gravity Rush: Overture (The Animation)" has recently been made available for gaming fans.

"Gravity Rush: Overture (The Animation)" stars Kat, the protagonist of the games. The anime is intended to connect the story of the original game, "Gravity Rush," back in 2012 and the upcoming game sequel, "Gravity Rush 2," which will be released next year. The anime is fully available on Youtube, and it has been split into two parts, running a total of more than 17 minutes.

According to Gamespot, the development of "Overture" was announced earlier in 2016 as a means to fill the gap between the two games in the "Gravity Rush" franchise. The anime was produced by Studio Khara, the same team who was behind the Evangelion series and helped in making the anime for games such as "Persona 4" and "Halo Legends."

The "Gravity Rush" anime will also be released on Blu-ray along with the launch of the much-awaited "Gravity Rush 2."

As previously reported, "Gravity Rush" is set in an open world in which players will play the character of Kat, a girl who possess the ability to manipulate gravity.

"Gravity Rush 2," on the other hand, carries on the storyline in the original game and has added several improved features. Not only did the game sequel diversify the gravity abilities of the playable character, but also the open world has been significantly expanded which allows for more and greater explorations and missions.

Other than the game sequel and the short anime film, Sony also recently announced that a demo version of "Gravity Rush 2" has been made available for gaming fans who want to test out the game before purchasing the full game version next year.

"Gravity Rush 2" will be released next year on Jan. 20. The game sequel is also now available for pre-order for those who want to be ahead of the hype.
