'Grey's Anatomy' season 13 return date, news, spoilers: Alex goes behind bars; Meredith gets suspended
Alex (Justin Chambers) might be spending the rest of his life behind bars. Meanwhile, Bailey (Chandra Wilson) suspends Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) from surgeries.
Previously in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13, Alex had an ongoing trial for beating up DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) after he thought that the surgical intern wanted to sleep with Jo (Camilla Luddington).
Before going on winter break, the season left off with Alex wanting to take the plea deal to save Jo from being tracked by her abusive husband. But when "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 returns this January, Alex will be brought to jail.
As seen from the promo video, police arrested Alex in Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and brought him behind bars. It is possible that Alex had already taken the deal, which is why he was hauled off to jail.
But Meredith narrates in the beginning that Alex could spend 30 years to life in prison, which does not sound like a sentence that came out of a plea deal.
Meanwhile, Bailey will be suspending Meredith over a situation that is yet to be revealed when "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 returns. It is speculated that Bailey is suspending Meredith over something that could be connected to Alex's trial.
But Yibada points out that Meredith might not be suspended since she is one of Grey Sloan's shareholders and has more power than Bailey.
In the upcoming episode 10 titled "You Can Look (But You'd Better Not Touch)," Bailey, Jo, and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) will be working on a case at a maximum security prison for women. Their patient will be a 16-year-old pregnant girl who is said to be a high-risk prisoner.
From the doctors' faces upon seeing their patient, it seems like the girl is already in a bad condition.
"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 returns on Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
