'Grey's Anatomy' season 13 spoilers: Is Owen's sister still alive?
The latest episode of "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 finally introduced Owen's (Kevin McKidd) sister, Megan (Bridget Regan).
Unfortunately, it wasn't the actual Megan who viewers saw in "The Room Where It Happens" but Owen's hallucination/memory of her. While an episode in the previous season revealed that Megan was in a helicopter crash, it was also said that no one really knows if she had actually died. Riggs (Martin Henderson), her husband, even said that he had stayed behind to look for her, indicating that her remains were never found.
The question now remains: Could Megan still be alive? If so, where is she and why has she not reunited with her family?
When asked about the possibility of Owen's sister showing up at some point in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13, creator Shonda Rhimes was ambiguous, telling Entertainment Weekly, "As for whether or not the sister is dead, I think that's interesting that people think that's a question, but that's an interesting question." The "Grey's Anatomy" boss declined to further elaborate on her answer.
Despite the fact that no one knows for sure if Megan is really dead, Owen seems to have resigned himself to the belief that she is. Should the character show up in the coming episodes, it will be an interesting twist to the Riggs-Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) relationship. But because "Grey's" has played around with sibling twists before, as in the arrival of Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and Lexie (Chyler Leigh), it seems unlikely that the long-running medical drama will go down that road again.
Meanwhile, the next episode of "Grey's Anatomy" season 13, titled "You Haven't Done Nothin'," will find Alex (Justin Chambers) making an important decision as he prepares to enter jail. The promo clip for the episode also shows Jo (Camilla Luddington) saying that she will testify in the trial and finally confessing to Alex that she is already married. All of this unfolds as Grey Sloan treats the victims of a building collapse.
"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
