'Grey's Anatomy' season 13 spoilers: No baby for Owen and Amelia yet
"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 won't involve Amelia having a baby with Owen (Kevin McKidd) despite the real-life pregnancy of the character's portrayer, Caterina Scorsone.
Amelia and Owen became a married couple in the season 12 finale, but a bun in the oven appears to be out of the question at the moment.
In an interview with TVLine during the Television Critics Association press tour, Scorsone, who is expecting her second child with husband Rob Giles, revealed what "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 has in store for Owen and Amelia.
"We are picking up right where we left off, which is hilarious, because I was in a somewhat different geometric state," the actress quipped.
TVLine said that for "Grey's Anatomy" season 13, the folks behind the camera will cover up Scorsone's baby bump by strategic camera angles and set arrangement. They did the same last year for Jessica Capshaw.
Scorsone said that Owen and Amelia won't get a lot of screen time on the "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 since they will be off enjoying their first night as a couple.
After teasing the new married couple's business in the upcoming season, the actress also spoke about what's next for Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo's (Camilla Luddington).
"It got messy for the, but that's going to become a really multi-layered story that has social and personal overtones... It's a real opportunity to explore some important issues," Scorsone said.
It was revealed in the season 13 finale that Jo is still married to an abusive husband who is afraid of what he could do if she asked for divorce. This is why she has always rejected Alex's proposals.
Even worse, her real name is not even Jo. Alex has no idea about all of this yet, but he will likely no longer be in the dark in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13, making for an intense and nail-biting for their story.
"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 premieres Thursday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
