'Grimm' season 6 spoilers: David Giuntoli teases the battle between two Capt. Renards in episode 3
The last 13 episodes of "Grimm" will be aired on season 6, but it does not mean that lead star David Giuntoli will ran out of opportunities to direct at least one episode of the series for the first time.
In an interview with TV Insider, the actor revealed that he will have a shot at directing the third episode of "Grimm" season 6 titled "Oh Captain, My Captain" in which Giuntoli's character, Nick Burkhardt, will be exposed to a magic potion that will turn him into a clone of his mortal enemy, Captain Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz). The episode will air on Jan. 20.
While there are limited details about the said episode, the actor admitted that he was worried about taking over the director's chair because he tends to have a short attention span and can be considered as a goofball on the set.
Yet Giuntoli claimed that he did everything that he can to be able to do a good job as the episode's director. "But I was ready. I did a ton of homework. I didn't want to let anybody down," the actor stated. "It was the best time I've ever had professionally — without doubt and without exception. If you had put me in an MRI machine, you would have seen my entire brain light up!"
The lead star of the supernatural police procedural series also shared that even his real-life fiancée and co-star Bitsie Tulloch, who plays the dual role of Juliette Silverton and Eve in the show, took him seriously when he was helming the third episode of "Grimm" season 6.
According to the actor, all his co-stars were open to all his instructions for the episode. He also claimed that he used all his knowledge about the preferences of his co-stars as his advantage to run the set smoothly. "I was armed with a lot of intimate knowledge that our visiting directors don't have," Giuntoli also said.
NBC will air the premiere episode of "Grimm" season 6 on Friday, Jan. 6.
