'GTA 5' Online DLC rumors: Rockstar to 'slow down' on updates this year?
It looks like Rockstar Games is going easy on the updates on "Grand Theft Auto 5 Online" ("GTA 5 Online") this year, at least according to the latest reports about the game.
According to well-known "GTA" tipster Yan2295, fans should not have high hopes with regard to new content releases for the open-world action-adventure hit.
He claims that "GTA 5 Online" updates will "slow down" and will even stop when "Red Dead Redemption 2" will officially be out and about.
"You would think that Rockstar would want to end GTA Online with something big, but what if we already got that something big?" Yan2295 mused.
"Don't you think that the Import/Export update felt different and would have been a good way to end GTA Online updates? Well that's because if you go back around a year, that's exactly what they wanted to do," he went on to explain, adding that the said downloadable content (DLC) was supposed to be the final one.
However, "GTA 5 Online" is still expected to get new albeit "smaller and less creative" updates since Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive still wants to make the game a lucrative business.
Yan2295 adds that it is unlikely for a major update for "GTA 5 Online" to drop because the developers have a lot on their hands at the moment.
Some folks of the Rockstar North are apparently helping the San Diego wing with "Red Dead Redemption 2." Others are working on a sequel to "GTA 5" while the rest work on another game.
Only few people are left to make "GTA 5 Online" updates. With the workforce smaller than ever, massive updates like the ones players enjoyed in the past will be impossible to make.
That being said, fans will only likely get small "GTA 5 Online" content, some might be in the form of rehashed material from previous releases.
It is important to note, however, that this information is yet to be corroborated so fans are warned to take it with a pinch of salt.
