'Half Life 3' release date news: Sequel to release in 2018 with virtual reality feature?
The future of Valve's worldwide hit video games series "Half Life" remains unclear this month, with several speculative news and rumors circulating on the internet and the game developer company keeping its mouth zipped from spilling any confirmation or details. However, a recent report about the highly anticipated "Half Life 3" made a lot of fans excited for the past few days, which claims that the third entry to Valve' successful franchise will be launched in virtual reality (VR) platform in 2018.
News Everyday reported that Valve is planning to make something fresh and big for the third installment of the shooter video game series. The fans of the first two "Half Life" video games have found another reason to get hyped up for a new game with the latest rumor, as the rumored VR experience in "Half Life 3" will bring out the thrill in the game and highlight all the new features remarkably. Also, the report claims that the VR-based "Half Life" video game can be expected to arrive two years from now.
A virtual reality experience in "Half Life 3" may not be a far-fetched idea as the latest trend in the gaming world involves the VR headgears. The past several months saw the launching of different VR gadgets such as the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and the PS VR exclusively for Sony's PlayStation 4 consoles. There are a few games that are going to be redesigned to enable the virtual reality experience using the VR headsets, such as "Star Wars: Battlefront." It would be an interesting move for Valve to keep up with the trend while developing fresh gameplay features in their new project, although the company has remained silent amid all these VR speculations.
The recent "Half Life" game was released more than ten years ago, but Valve has neither confirmed nor denied that there will be a follow-up game after 2004's "Half Life 2." Perhaps the most negative development regarding "Half Life 3" is the retirement of the first two games' designer, Marc Laidlaw, Yibada reported. As he is no longer affiliated to Valve and has nothing to do with the development of "Half Life 3," if there is one indeed, some fans think that the "Half Life" series already ended with "Half Life 2." However, there is no reason for the fans to lose hope as long as the company is not yet making an official announcement about the project.
