'Halt and Catch Fire' season 3 finale sets the wheels turning for show's final season
The two-part season 3 finale of AMC's period series "Halt and Catch Fire" took the story into the '90s with Donna (Kerry Bishé) shaking things up with a potential group project that sets the stakes for the fourth and final season.
The four main characters were called back together into the now empty offices of Mutiny to discuss their plans for what would eventually become the internet. But just as things were starting to look like it could work out again for these brilliant minds, Cameron (Mackenzie Davis) decided to leave Donna out of their new project's developmental phase.
But Donna's not the kind of woman who can easily be deterred from her ambitions. After briefly shedding tears, she pulled herself together and proceeded with her next move that would undoubtedly put her at odds with the group she had just brought back together.
"Halt and Catch Fire" season 4 is going to be its last, and it'll be interesting to see how these characters' lives will pan out after the changes and complications that were dealt to them in the season 3 finale. Donna's friendship with Cameron may be beyond repair, but could Donna and her former husband Gordon (Scoot McNairy) still be able to rekindle their lost romance?
Moreover, four years apart have apparently been enough for Joe (Lee Pace) to rediscover her feelings for Cameron. How will their newfound connection affect Cameron's marriage to Tom (Mark O'Brien) especially after she and Joe spent that one intimate night together?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Christopher Cantwell hinted at the possibility of Donna taking on an adversarial role in season 4 due to her ambitions and her strong desire to prove her worth.
Season 4 will also show how the other three main leads move forward and develop into the people that they were meant to be.
Co-executive producer Christopher C. Rogers said that while season 3 had been all about "the story of the right idea at the wrong time," season 4 will ultimately be about what the show's characters' have earned and where these achievements lead them to.
According to Deadline, Cantwell and Rogers will stay on as showrunners of "Halt and Catch Fire" season 4, which will most likely air in summer 2017.
