'Han Solo' release date, news: Woody Harrelson says his character is 'a bit of a criminal'
The "Han Solo" spinoff film may have a relatively unknown actor in Alden Ehrenreich playing the titular character, but the project also has its fair share of well-known actors. "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke joined the cast a couple of months ago, and Lucasfilm has recently announced that Woody Harrelson would appear as well.
"Star Wars" fans were intrigued about the role Harrelson is going to play, and in an interview with Mashable (via MovieWeb), the film's newest cast member spoke briefly about his character. He confirmed that the character was going to be Han's mentor, but he refused to divulge more details.
"I'm a mentor to Han, but I'm also a bit of a criminal. I don't think I'll have a lot of make-up or anything. We'll see how that look develops. I'm meeting with those guys tomorrow, the hair and make-up and stunts and everything. We'll just have a little discussion about that," he said.
Harrelson may not have revealed the name of his character, but many fans believe that he's going to be portraying Alexsandr Badure aka Trooper. Of course, it should be noted that Trooper and the rest of the characters introduced in the "Star Wars" expanded universe (now Star Wars Legends) are no longer considered canon.
Meanwhile, Harrelson also spoke with Collider, and he talked about how excited he was to be part of the "Star Wars" franchise.
"It's mind-blowing. I can't really ... you know, I never would've imagined that I'd get this opportunity so I'm really pumped about it. I really like those directors [Phil Lord and Chris Miller], I think they're really great," he stated.
Harrelson is a very versatile actor who has starred in films like "The Hunger Games," "Zombieland," "The People vs. Larry Flynt" and "No Country for Old Men."
The "Han Solo" spinoff is scheduled to hit cinemas on May 25, 2018.
