Harrison Ford Condition Latest News: Hurt But 'OK' After Crash-Landing Plane at California Golf Course

Actor Harrison Ford suffered moderate injuries after he crashed a single-engine vintage aircraft he was flying at a golf course in Venice, California on Thursday.

Ford, 72, was piloting a Ryan Aeronautical ST3KR aircraft and had just taken off from the Santa Monica airport when the engine stalled.

"Harrison was flying a WW2 vintage plane today which stalled upon takeoff," TMZ quoted a representative of Ford as saying. "He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely. The injuries sustained are not life-threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery."

Ford, according to TMZ, called the Santa Monica Airport control tower to report the engine failure and requested for emergency return to the airport.

He made a crash landing at Penmar Golf Course near the airport.

The Los Angeles and Santa Monica Fire Departments responded to the scene before 2:30 p.m. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, they found the aircraft suffering from medium to high impact crash landing.

"The pilot and solo occupant was found conscious and breathing after doctors who were playing golf assisted the patient from the wreckage," according to the police.

Ford was given medical aid by responding paramedics who transported him to a local hospital.

"Simultaneously additional firefighters set up a protection hose-line and ensured any leaking fuel would not erupt into flames," the fire department said.

It said no one else was injured in the crash.

"The cause of the crash is under active investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board who is taking the lead, along with the Federation Aviation Administration. Officials will remain on-scene over night and into tomorrow," according to the police.

Ford's son, Ben, tweeted that his dad is doing okay. "At the hospital," he posted. "Dad is OK. Battered, but OK! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man."
